Today I had the honor of getting to volunteer my time to help my college friend, Alyssa, at the Bailey Ave Cafe and Bake Shoppe in Buffalo, NY. I spent a couple of hours updating their menu board as their menu has just changed to accommodate the needs and wants of the community.
All of the drawings in chalk were left from the previous menu. However, I did add this double cheeseburger:
Alyssa works for Saving Grace Ministries in Buffalo, and that ministry runs the cafe where they provide employment training for previously homeless men and women. I think all of the work that SGM and the cafe are doing for the community (as well as SGM locations in Rochester, Elmira and Tampa) is just amazing. If you want to find out more about their work, you can visit their website here.
I didn’t get to sample any of the food today, but let me just say that the baked goods I saw were calling my name! You can visit the cafe’s website here for menu and hours.
Thank you for the opportunity, Alyssa, and I can’t wait to get back and sample the food 🙂
