Drawing a Day Challenge: Day #17

I am so surprised today’s drawing got done.

Today I had so many errands to run, food to make, and cleaning to get done. Tomorrow is my youngest kiddo’s family birthday party, and I’m always running around crazy trying to get party prep done in time. Adding anything else to my to-do list is highly frowned upon, even work things.

But, I set aside the time anyway, and I got the drawing done!

Drawing a Day Challenge: Day #16

Happy National Puppy Day!!!!

It’s kind of funny; I couldn’t remember what today’s drawing was going to be, so to mentally prepare I looked at my schedule last night. And what do you know, it was my dog! What better way to celebrate Puppy Day than by drawing the sweetest pupper ever?

Meet Mason! He’s an Australian Shepherd mix, and seriously so sweet. We’ve had him for five years, and he’s about eight or so years old. There’s not much paperwork on him, and what we do have, his birth year is inconsistent. We adopted him from a local shelter; they somehow knew we’d be a great fit and instead of us going to go check him out and then having them come to do a home visit to make sure the house was suitable for him, they brought him to us and got it all done in an afternoon! He was a relatively new dog to the shelter at that point, and had just been sent to them from another shelter in ALABAMA. Mase was found roaming the streets with another dog, but was fully trained and in great health. The first time he’d ever seen snow was with us, and he was so scared of it! I think this winter was the first time he ever played in it! He’s depressed that it’s melting; he’s going to miss it!

Drawing a Day Challenge: Day #15

I think I have writer’s block tonight.

I’ve been sitting here with this open for about 20 minutes now, having no idea how to start the blog. I’m not sure if it’s because today was pretty straightforward, nothing keeping me from my drawing, and it went really well so I have nothing to write….or the fact that Doctor Strange is playing on the tv, and as I haven’t seen it yet, I’m thoroughly distracted. You decide 😉

Drawing a Day Challenge: Day #14

Today was the end of the second week already! On one hand, it feels like that’s gone by so quickly, but on the other hand, I’ve gotten so used to drawing every day that it feels like I’ve been doing this challenge forever.

It was a nice change of pace switching things up today. I got to both relax a bit as it didn’t have to be perfectly realistic, but it also challenged me as I’m not used to drawing this way…

Drawing a Day Challenge: Day #13

Hey everyone!

Thanks for your patience with this reveal; I was going to work on it last night after doing paying bills and working on our budget, but my daughter had a really rough day and just needed to talk with her momma. By the time we were done talking, I just knew I was barely going to have time for the bills, and this would have to wait until today…

Drawing a Day Challenge: Day #12

Guys, I was SOOOO excited for today’s drawing!

I was going to be home, have tons of time to work, AND it was going to be an easier drawing as the subject is one I’m very familiar with by now. It couldn’t have been a better set up for drawing….

But life happened.

And my brain was all over the place, incapable of drawing properly.

So I give you my first flop of the challenge:

When I say “flop”, I just mean that he didn’t turn out how I wanted him to. He’s not baaaaad, just not up to my normal standards.

So yeah, I didn’t even photograph him properly, and this is the only picture I took.

Drawing a Day Challenge: Day #10

Day 10! That means I’m two-fifths of the way through with the challenge already, wow….

The thing keeping me from wanting to draw today was actually a sinus headache that came out of nowhere. Having a super tiny detail oriented drawing didn’t really help, but I pulled through and got her done!

Drawing a Day Challenge: Day #9

I had so much energy today!

I’m not sure if it’s because everyone was back at school, the sun was out, or my office was freshly cleaned, but I got so much done! I guess it was really shocking that I got a lot done because when the boys got home, Kid #2 just stopped and said “Woooooowwww….”, and Kid #3 said “What happened? The house looks so weird!”.

Apparently I don’t clean a lot….

But anyway, back to art things. Number One on my list of course was the Drawing a Day Challenge, and today’s subject seemed daunting. It actually went fairly smoothly, and I really enjoyed working on it!

Title: Falcon

This subject was suggested by my friend, Lisa H. She mentioned a bird of prey, and I know my husband especially loves falcons, so it was a no-brainer as to which one I was going to choose.

Drawing a Day Challenge: Day #8

Hello from snowy Western New York!

This morning was spent shoveling our driveway and then cleaning out the kid’s play room as we had another snow day. I had been stepping on toys or even tripping almost every time I’d try to get to my office, so it was perfect time to get that taken care of. Once we finished with our jobs, I was able to start working on today’s drawing…

Drawing a Day Challenge: Day #7

Today is Drawing #7, which means one week has been completed! Woo hoo!

I feel like every day of the challenge there has been some circumstance or another that makes me question as to if I’ll be able to get that drawing done or not (I guess that’s why it’s call a challenge?). Today was no exception as it was a snow day (and another confirmed for tomorrow already!), and I find it really hard to concentrate with everyone home.

Thankfully, my husband took the kiddos outside to clear the driveway and play, and I was able to get most of the drawing done during that time, and was able to finish it up while the kiddos were playing quietly!
