Just as a warning, there might be a theme for some of these newer pieces. When I started relaunching my business, we happened to have our annual Apps family vacation fall smack dab right in the middle of it. And when we stayed on a beautiful river and as an artist I am obsessed with clouds, sunrises/sunsets, and all things landscape and of nature, we can just say that there were a lot of photos taken as inspiration for future pieces (including Serenity Bay!).
While we were on vacation, I was asking some of our family members what kinds of things they’d like to see me do. The #1 response? Another blue heron…
Title: Harry
All week there was a blue heron that would wade along the shore throughout the day. We named him Harry, got to watch him catch fish, and then fly away to meet up with his girlfriend, who we named Harriet!
Size: 8″ x 10″ painting inside a frame with mat
Medium: Watercolor, graphite, colored pencil & ink
Favorite part: I think my favorite part is his fluffy neck! I also am working on combining my love of watercolors and graphite pencil drawings, so I played around with that a bit more with this piece. Stay tuned for more pieces to come as I work on mixing the two mediums!
Least favorite part: I honestly don’t know if I have a least favorite part! Oh, actually, probably the paper I was using. I tried a different watercolor paper and I need to go back to the other one I was using. This was much more difficult to work with!
Product availability: Harry is available in my Etsy shop here and will be available soon as prints and notecards.
Do you give animals you see frequently names, too?
