This summer we took our annual Apps family vacation to Virginia and stayed on a river. This was a big change for us as we typically go to the ocean or maybe a lake, but a river? Definitely new.
It was such an amazing vacation, though. We watched herons, we kayaked and swam, and even saw dolphins on our last full day there.
The weather was absolutely beautiful, but we did have one day of rain. The way the clouds rolled over the river were absolutely stunning, and inspired this piece:
Title: Serenity Bay
Okay, I know, I know, this was taken over a river, not a bay. But when my daughter mentioned a potential title of Serenity, it felt right but needed just a little bit more to it. Bay felt like it was the perfect fit!
Size: 8″ x 10″ stretched canvas
Medium: Finger painted oils on canvas
Favorite part: I love the way the colors play with each other in the sky, the texture on the clouds, and the way the water turned out, especially how it meets up with the trees on the right side. I don’t think there’s anything I really don’t like about this piece except for one thing…
Least favorite part: I wish I had done this on a bigger canvas, that is my only complaint! But there’s no rule saying I can’t do a similar piece on a bigger canvas, right?
Product availability: The original is available in my Etsy shop and prints will be available soon.
Where did you go on your last vacation?
