Today’s post is short and sweet….not because I’m crunched for time, but because this drawing was so quick and straightforward I don’t have much to write about!
Here’s today’s little guy…I’ve got an animal/bird theme going on this year!
Title: Nuthatch
Size: 5×7
Medium: Graphite pencil and white gel pen ink on acid free paper
Inspired/nominated by: Me! I love nuthatches, and as I get asked often at festivals if I have any, I thought now was the perfect time to add one to my collection 🙂
Favorite parts: I love his little pose! I love watching nuthatches as they climb up and down trees, and I couldn’t resist drawing this little guy. And, as always, little fluffy bird bellies!
Challenging parts: In the picture I was drawing from, his little feet blended in with the bark on the trees, making it hard to see where they were, how they held on to the tree, etc. Mr. Bird needed feet, so I made it up and just drew what I though they would look like. Don’t judge them too harshly, please 😉
